A lifting sling on the tail pivot positions the turbine at the perfect angle to mate up with the tower.

The tower mounting plate was installed on the turbine yaw shaft while the turbine was still bolted to the shipping pallet.

The Westwind turbine has a cable to allow the tail to be manually furled. The furling cable connects to the tail arm on top of the nacelle.
Next, the tail boom is attached to the nacelle. The tail can then be bolted to the boom.
Attaching the blades is the next step, followed by connecting the nose cone. Raising the tower slightly provides extra clearance for this operation.

With the power cables connected, everything is given a final inspection prior to the big lift.
The turbine is manually furled, the guy and hoist cables double checked. The tower is ready to be raised.
When the tower is securely in place, it is checked for vertical with a survey transit and the guy cables are tensioned.
The tail can then be unfurled and the turbine switched on.
